Frequently asked questions
Is it on the Mac App Store?
No. Densatum is distributed from this website, signed with a developer certificate and notarized by Apple. That avoids the App Store sandbox restrictions on file access, which are incompatible with an archive tool.
Can it create RAR archives?
No. RAR is a closed-licence format. Densatum extracts RAR archives, but recommends ZIP or 7Z for creating.
What do I need to run it?
A Mac with Apple Silicon or Intel and a recent version of macOS. No need to install Java: the app bundles everything it needs.
What does a password protect?
In ZIP and 7Z it encrypts the file contents. In ZIP the file names remain visible; in 7Z you can encrypt the names too. The app explains this when you choose a password.
